Winter
Posted on
I was talking with a little girl who was about 7 years old. I asked her which season she liked best. She thought about it. I thought she would probably say Summer (Summer holidays, sunshine… ), or Spring (new things growing, baby animals…). At an outside chance, I guessed she may say Autumn, (leaves, conkers…). But, hey, guess what?
Winter. It is snug and warm and cosy and there is time to curl up and read and daydream, she said. But, she said, the best thing was that by doing those things she was joining in with all the hibernating animals and that the trees and plants had also drawn themselves in and were snoozing and getting strong again and ready for when the days start to get longer again and then everyone gets going.
Since then, Winter’s never felt the same to me. Feel how good her version is. Christmas is coming and that marks the birth of light again. You have until 21st December to dream and read and be snug and cosy. Mmmmm…….
